It is officially Steelers Draft week, and we are days away from knowing who the Steelers will select with their 17th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
With that said, we have put together a list of five players that could make an immediate impact from week one of the Steelers 2023 season. Each player on this list has been involved in the Steelers draft prospect process, and some may require a trade-up to obtain.
It’s no secret that the Steelers are interested in bringing another tackle to their offensive line, as the team reportedly targeted LT Orlando Brown in March. As we know, that did not happen.
They’ll have to fill that need in the Draft, and there is no better tackle for the Steelers to select in round one than Paris Johnson Jr. Standing at 6’6, 313 pounds, Johnson is a pure left tackle who does it all and is starter ready.
The Steelers will likely have to move up on the board to get him. That will require some creativity, and yes, it’s more than worth doing it despite the bad taste Devin Bush Jr. left in our mouths.
Johnson possesses exceptional physical strength and extraordinary agility on his feet, making him a prime candidate to meet the Steelers requirements for the tackle position. With his skill set, he would be a valuable addition to the team, bolstering the offense by shielding Pickett’s vulnerable side.
In addition to fortifying the team’s running game, Johnson’s quickness would enable him to keep pace with Pickett in the passing game, should the quarterback move outside the backfield. His multifaceted abilities would undoubtedly enhance the team’s performance.
