The Devin Bush era in Pittsburgh has come to a very uneventful end, with the Steelers 2019 first-round pick eyeing free agency.
Bush finished the 2022 season with a staggering 0 sacks, 0 forced fumbles, and 2 deflected passes. This is a considerable distance from his rookie season, and any hopes of Bush returning to that form have evaporated in Pittsburgh.
The Pittsburgh Steelers traded their first-round (20th) and second-round (59th overall) picks in the 2019 NFL Draft and a third-round pick (83rd overall) in the 2020 NFL Draft to Denver Broncos in exchange for the tenth overall pick, which was used to draft Bush.
With all the Steelers gave up to draft Bush, when you look at the return they got, it’s hard not to consider Bush a bust.
Bush has his eyes on a new team in the upcoming free agency.
Bush is now eyeing a new team as the Steelers did not pick up the linebacker’s 5th-year option on May 2nd, 2022. Bush tweeted out the following on January 14th, 2023.
Playing for a former NFL player…🤔

There are a few head coaches who played in the NFL that Bush could be referring to, but the bigger question is will those teams be interested?
With Bush’s exit on the horizon, the Steelers will need to find new shoes to fill the middle linebacker position. A position they have failed to fill since the team lost Ryan Shazier, who suffered a career-ending injury in 2017.
I will not be surprised if the Steelers target linebacker in the 2023 NFL Draft if they cannot find someone in free agency.
