Steelers release CB William Jackson avoiding $12M cap hit

The Steelers have released cornerback William Jackson who joined the team in 2022 but has never seen the field with Pittsburgh.

Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Jackson was scheduled to make $12.187 million in 2023 on a roster that needs a cornerback.

Without seeing much playing time on the field and dealing with previous injuries, it was expected the Steelers would move on from Jackson to pursue either a rookie corner or another option in free agency.

It’s expected the Steelers will have Penn State’s cornerback Joey Porter Jr. on their draft board for April 27th, where they currently carry the 17th overall pick.
