Hassenauer was signed by the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted FA in 2018. He was waived on September 1st of that year before being signed to their practice squad.
After the 2018 season, Hassenauer signed with the Birmingham Iron of the AAF, where he played in 8 games as their starting center. The AAF ended up suspending football operations on April 2nd, 2019.
On April 5th, 2019, Hassenauer signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was waived on August 31st to make room for the 53-man roster. He was later signed to their practice squad on November 20th and promoted to the active roster on December 24th.
He would be the Steelers primary backup at the center and guard positions, starting a couple of games from 2020 to 2022, even replacing Kendrick Green at center during the final two games of the 2021 season.
We here at SteelYinzers wish J.C. Hassenauer the best of luck in his future with the New York Giants.
