Free Agency

Don’t sleep on safety being a need for the Steelers

The Steelers needs in the offseason are pretty obvious and need to be addressed. However, we should not sleep on safety being a need for the Steelers.

As we know, Terrell Edmunds is a free agent and he’s not the only Edmunds brother hitting the free agency market.

There’s a great chance Terrell and Tremaine Edmunds could end up on the same team. Both are free agents and there are teams that could use both.

That includes the Steelers. Edmunds could be brought back and convince his brother to join him in the Steel City.

I have a great feeling that wherever one Edmunds brother goes, the other will follow. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for brothers to hit the free agency market in the same year and end up on the same team.

The desire would be for the Steelers to land both former 1st rounders. Steelers adore the bloodlines and trust Terrell. Edmunds has proved to be a worth starter for the last 5 years and needs to be retained to prevent another hole having to be filled.

If not, the Steelers could resign another impending safety free agent in Damontae Kazee and place him in Edmunds’ spot.

Steelers still like to use a 3-safety set often and retaining both guys would be very ideal. But probably not likely.

Steelers could sign a free agent to fill the gap(s) or lead toward the draft in a crazy offseason twist. They’ve already met with some of the drafts best and any free agent safety would lvoe to work with Minkah Fitzpatrick.

This is not preferred with the already obvious holes on the team, but unfortunately is pretty likely if they don’t retain either safety.
